The aspiring country singer from the sunny state of California – Brett Young, stuns us with his sensual debut single titled Sleep Without You.
Even though every southern citizen, considers themselves to become a country singer. Young is one of 2016’s latest faces that are producing good and honest music.
Albeit, many would not like the way the song is carried out. However, ‘Sleep Without You’ offers undeniable fast paced catchiness and warmth that echoes out nicely.
The idea behind the song, came about from Young listening to pop radio, about guys sleeping with girls. Thinking about it as a decent head start to begin with, Young called in the writers (Justin Ebach and Kelly Archer) and it was a quick write from there.
Released on April 11, 2016, the track can be found as the debut single on the artists self-titled debut EP, Brett Young EP, released on February 12, 2016.
Coming on the single, it has managed to squeeze itself onto the US Billboard Hot 100 charts at No.81 (previously from No.89). The song has managed to do well on the US Hot Country songs at no.17 and thanks to its perky and quick natured composition, airplay seems to be sweet and rising at No.12 presently.
Young effortlessly glides through his California style sweet and soft lyrics about love and commitment. While having some faint R&B acoustic jabs mostly kept through majority of the composition of the song. The additional shakers and guitar chords intensify to the natural storytelling of the melody.
Sleep Without You. Is basically about having trust on your lover, and letting them be who they are, at the same time, coming back home sharing a few words of love and a “ text sayin’ “Comin’ home soon” “
The perception is such, both the girl and guy don’t really live together. So it has a lot going on, in terms of mutual understanding and trust.
The chorus is a nice perky, fast paced part that uplifts the song very well. Although the lyrics seem a bit of a mouth full, the long verses were flawlessly performed by Young.
All in all, nothing special but creatively and honestly produced. However we are eager in anticipation of what the remaining EP holds in store for fans and us critics.
A music video was published on Mar 8, 2016 on Young’s VEVO account on YouTube.
